Infared Laser Light Therapy

Infrared Laser Light Therapy

The Science Behind Pilot Diode Lasers

The Pilot Diode Laser delivers high-powered laser energy to treatment areas, accelerating healing and offering advanced therapy for:

  • Minor muscle and joint pain
  • Stiffness and minor arthritis
  • Muscle spasms
  • Temporary increases in circulation

These lasers are known for being user-friendly and effective. With a simple control panel and precise solid-state diode laser technology, they offer consistent power and wavelength for smooth therapeutic results.

How It Works

Laser stands for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.” Lasers produce light at a specific wavelength, and the effect depends on how tissues absorb that energy. The Pilot Diode Laser operates in the near-infrared spectrum at 810±20 nm, making it ideal for penetrating soft tissue.

Laser energy is emitted through a fiber-optic cord. When it reaches tissue, the energy is absorbed by pigment molecules (like melanin or hemoglobin) and converted into heat to stimulate healing. Since the light is not absorbed by water, it penetrates deeper into soft tissue layers.

Modes of Use

The Pilot Diode Laser can operate in two modes:

  • Continuous Mode: Delivers steady energy for faster treatment. Best for experienced operators.
  • Pulsed Mode: Provides breaks between energy bursts, allowing some tissue cooling. Ideal for gentler treatments.

Operators can adjust power settings (measured in Watts). In pulsed mode, the average power is half of the set value because the laser only emits energy half the time. In continuous mode, the average power equals the set value.

Clinical Benefits

The laser promotes faster, more efficient tissue healing compared to traditional therapies. It can also be used for pain therapy using a specialized hand-piece that:

  • Delivers bio-stimulation
  • Increases blood flow
  • Reduces inflammation

How It’s Applied

During treatment, the hand-piece is lightly placed over the target area while pressing the foot pedal. Circular movements are used to avoid overheating any single spot. Treatments typically last a few minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.
