A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam must be performed by a certified medical examiner listed in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry. This includes MDs, DOs, PAs, APNs, and DCs (Doctors of Chiropractic).

How Long Is a DOT Exam Valid?
A DOT medical certificate is valid for up to 24 months. However, it may be issued for less than 24 months if a medical condition (like high blood pressure) requires monitoring.
