A hawthorn tree…more than just a shade tree growing in the northern hemisphere. The hawthorn tree’s medicinal reputation
is spreading! Just as its shade is welcome when the sun is
strong, the antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antioxidant
properties of hawthorn extract are welcome to decrease
bacteria, oxidation effects and more. Already reported
to have favorable benefits for cardiovascular health and
treatment of cardiovascular disorders via its flavonoid content,
the hawthorn tree’s flavonoid content established it as
valuable for more issues including spinal cord injury
and staph infection. (1,2) New Roads Chiropractic Center establishes
New Roads chiropractic treatment plans with integrated
nutrition to tackle these issues and more with nutrients like
those from hawthorn when proper. The New Roads chiropractic care is quite
focused on what your body requires!
FLAVONOIDS IN HAWTHORN LEAVES’ EXTRACT
Hawthorn leaves’ antioxidant and antimicrobial attributes
are expanding its reputation as a popular herbal
medicine plant. Hawthorn’s total phenols, total flavonoid content, and
antioxidant activity tested well in a recent study, particularly
for hyperoside, chlorogenic acid, and isoquercetin in hawthorn fruits. (2) Methanol
and ethanol extracts of hawthorn showed high levels of total
flavonoids and polyphenols. The methanol extract of hawthorn showed
the strongest antibacterial level against bacteria, particularly
stapholococcus aureus (SA). It damaged the cell wall and membrane
of SA and stopped its enzyme activity, increased
reactive oxygen species, changed gene expression, and
triggered SA cell death. (3) Hawthorn’s methanol extract is powerful!
FLAVONOIDS IN CARE OF SPINAL CORD INJURY
Research set for a publication date of 2021 reports on powerful therapeutic
benefits of hawthorn leaves’ flavonoids for spine cord injury. Hawthorn leaves
were found to contain plenty of total flavonoid species and content. Research reported
that this kind of an abundance of
flavonoids can reduce apoptosis (cell death) and utlilize
neuroprotective effects to stimulate motor function in
rats with spinal cord injury. (4) An interesting step in the
direction of potential human benefit and New Roads
back pain decline.
