CLOTHES MAKE THE … CHIROPRACTOR?
A new study by Leduc in January 2025 concluded that what we chiropractors wear impacts
our patients’ perception of us, including your New Roads chiropractor at New Roads Chiropractic Center. That’s good for us to know!
Scrubs make us look more knowledgeable, trustworthy, competent,
professional and comfortable. White coats and formal wear came second overall. For women chiropractors, the white coat was more affirmative
for them than when men wear them. (1) Interestingly,
this attire issue doesn’t just concern chiropractors. A study done in Saudi
Arabia on patient perceptions of surgeons based on their attire found that
patients preferred scrubs and white coats. These preferences were
accredited to perceived hygiene as well as the image of
dedication and expertise transmitted by such attire. (2) Beyond
their attire, chiropractors are working to hone their professional
identity to better interact other healthcare colleagues who – according to
other articles like the surgeon attire one – also work to polish
their image and identity for their patients and collegial interactions. (3) One
paper boldly resolved that “although the chiropractic
profession may debate internally about its professional identity, the
chiropractic identity seems to have already been established by society,
practice, legislation, and education as a profession of health care providers
whose area of expertise is spine care.” (4) Starting with spine
care works for New Roads Chiropractic Center! Spine pain relief builds trust,
leading patients to consult us for other health issues. Bring on your New Roads back pain and
neck pain! We’ll wear our best scrubs, clothes and/or white coats!
Together, let us, you and New Roads Chiropractic Center, get you feeling better!
